Patrick Hinton

Patrick Hinton, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®, AIF®

Founding Partner, Senior Financial Planner

Education and credentials are a cornerstone of Pat’s approach. He strongly believes that the CFP® designation is essential for anyone practicing financial planning. Achieving the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation was a turning point in his career, ensuring he could provide the highest level of fiduciary asset management. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®), Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designations.

Pat is also excited about the formation of Altara Wealth, which combines two like-minded firms focused on financial planning, investment management, and exceptional client service. He looks forward to the new ideas, experiences, and best practices this collaboration will bring.

In college, Pat was a four-year starter as a center on his football team and was voted captain his senior year. His alma mater has since become a perennial powerhouse, making five Division III national championship appearances and winning three titles in recent years. Beyond sports, Pat enjoys fitness, reading, travel, music, learning, and baking.

Since his time in college, Pat Hinton has had a passion for investing and financial planning. What started as research, reading, and informal advice to family and friends eventually led him to make a career change. While still working in politics, a friend encouraged him to transition into financial planning. That step allowed Pat to pursue what he truly loved: helping people educate their children, retire with confidence, and feel confidence knowing they were on track toward their family’s goals and objectives.

Over more than a quarter of a century, Pat has been privileged to see his clients realize their retirement dreams, provide for their families, and even introduce him to their children to carry forward their legacies. Supported by a dedicated team, he is able to focus on his passion—financial planning and aligning client needs with the right investment strategies.

For Pat, financial planning is deeply personal. Every relationship is unique, every financial story different. He thrives on the challenge of piecing together the puzzle—drawing on tax and legal strategies, keeping current on changing laws, and adapting to world events that impact client plans. This process allows him to build customized strategies that reflect not just numbers, but the lives behind them.

Pat and his wife, Kate, are blessed with five children who are spread across the world. Family is at the heart of his life, and the couple especially cherishes summers in Maine with Kate’s extended family and their children’s 30 cousins. The Hintons have lived in Walpole, MA for more than 25 years, where Pat serves as a Town Meeting member and Trustee of the Walpole Scholarship Foundation. The Foundation has awarded more than 2,800 scholarships totaling $3.6 million since its founding in 1983, including over $200,000 in the past few years alone under Pat’s involvement. Pat and Kate are also active in their parish, and at home, they enjoy time with their dog, Mr. Ridley.

Life is always in motion—your financial plan should move with you.

We’re here to help make sure it does.
